What is a Groovin' Guide?

A Groovin' Guide is the heart and soul of every GroovinFly trip. You're not a tour guide reading from a script—you're a trip leader, vibe-setter, problem-solver, and friend who makes sure everyone has an unforgettable experience.

Think of yourself as the person who keeps the energy positive, helps lost travelers find their way, coordinates group dinners, handles logistics, and makes sure everyone feels included. You're the glue that turns a group of strangers into a festival family.

  • Safety & Support: Keep an eye on the group, be the go-to person for questions or concerns, and ensure everyone gets home safely.
  • Capture the Vibes: Take photos/videos, share content on social media (if comfortable), and help document the experience.
  • Be the Energy: Set a positive, inclusive, fun tone. Your enthusiasm is contagious—bring it!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need prior tour guide experience?

Nope! We care more about your personality, reliability, and passion for travel than formal experience. If you've been a camp counselor, event coordinator, teacher, or team leader in any capacity, that's a plus—but not required.

How many trips can I lead per year?

As many as you want! Some guides lead 1-2 trips a year, others lead 6+. It's completely up to your availability and interest. You pick which trips align with your schedule.

What's the time commitment for each trip?

You'll commit to the full trip duration (typically 3-7 days). There's also some pre-trip prep (coordinating with travelers, reviewing itinerary) and post-trip wrap-up (collecting feedback, sharing photos). Expect about 5-10 hours of prep work before/after each trip.

Do I have to share a room?

That depends on the trip. Some trips, guides get their own space. Other trips, guides share accommodations like everyone else (but you'll always have a comfortable setup). We'll be transparent about arrangements before you commit to leading a trip.

What if I can't handle a situation that comes up?

You're never alone! GroovinFly leadership is available 24/7 during trips for backup. We'll train you on common scenarios, but if something feels beyond your scope (medical emergency, serious conflict), you can always call us for support.

Is this considered a job or volunteer work?

It's a hybrid! You're getting significant compensation (free trip + stipend), but it's not a traditional W-2 job. Think of it more like a passion project with perks. You're helping us grow while getting to travel the world—win-win.

Can I bring a friend or partner on trips I'm guiding?

Generally, no—guides should be focused on the group. However, if your friend/partner books as a regular traveler (pays for their own spot), they can absolutely join! We just ask that you maintain professional boundaries and prioritize the group experience.
